Getting Students Involved
Students have many opportunities to be involved in school activities.  There are a variety of athletics and clubs on campus.  There is something for everyone!

Getting Parents Involved
Research indicates that when parents participate in their children's education, the result is an increase in student achievement and an improvement of students' attitudes towards learning (Caplan, Hall, Lubin, and Fleming, 1997). Parents can volunteer to serve on a variety of committees including School Site Council, PTSA, WASC Focus Groups, Safe Grad Night and booster organizations.  In recent years, changes in social structures and increased economic pressures have reduced the time and energy some families can devote to school (enGauge).  The district will use more technology, Internet-based tools and applications to improve communication and engage parents.  The district has an automated caller system to alert parents about emergency situations and notifications about important upcoming events.  Please keep your telephone number up-to-date at your student's school so you can stay informed.  Teachers will use email, websites and AERIES (via the ABI Parent Portal) to keep parents informed of their student's academic performance.

Parental Involvement Policy

The Governing Board recognizes that parents/guardians are their children's first and most influential teachers and that sustained parent involvement in the education of their children contributes greatly to student achievement and a positive school environment. The Superintendent or designee shall work with staff and parents/guardians to develop meaningful opportunities at all grade levels for parents/guardians to be involved in district and school activities; advisory, decision-making, and advocacy roles; and activities to support learning at home.  This policy is reviewed annually by the School Site Council at each school site.
